NJ Department of Children and Families

digital media manager

Since September 2019, I have overseen all digital media for NJ’s child & family services agency, spearheading the transformation of DCF's online presence by implementing a digital-first strategy focused on high-quality video & graphics that humanize the department’s work. Taking advantage of my vast experience in visual storytelling and digital strategy, the team I lead was able to combat the negative stigma that surrounds NJ’s child welfare system, doubling DCF’s followers across all digital platforms within the past year and turning DCF’s digital presence into a trusted and respected voice throughout the State of NJ.

julia & alex - adoption day 2019

Each year on National Adoption Day, the courts in NJ put together celebrations and events for families finalizing the adoption process. In 2019, I traveled to five courthouses throughout the state to film newly minted forever families and tell their unique stories. Julia and Alex stood out immediately, and they were kind enough to let me follow them through this process. Alex had bounced around a bit before finding Julia, and it was wonderful to see how much they loved and cared for each other.

The video received over 20K views across Facebook, Twitter & Instagram and garnered recognition from the NJ Sec. of State’s office for our persistent outreach campaign from April - October 2020.

DCF Times Square Billboard

In January 2020, working with the NY Giants and Clear Channel Outdoor, we were able to secure free billboard space in Times Square to promote DCF’s adoption services. I created the ad from footage I shot during the annual Jingle Jam celebration the Giants put on for the kids in the foster system each year. The ad played to 480,000 people in Times Square per day.
